I had the idea for the article from a reader. And this is such a good idea. Comme une Française is not about French clichés, it’s about real life in France. And this includes ordering a pizza after a long day of work. This is how it goes.
The words for the pizza
A pizza is made of pâte (crust) and garniture (toppings) such as de la sauce tomate, du fromage (cheese), des champignons (mushrooms), de la viande (meat), des olives, de l’ananas (pineapple)… You can cut it en parts (in slices). We use the word croûte for the part of the pizza which has no sauce or toppings: just crust. You can add des suppléments to the existing toppings such as « extra olives », « extra meat », etc.
The most popular pizzas are:
– la Royale: sauce tomate, fromage, jambon, champignons, olives
– la Paysanne: lardons, oignons, crème fraîche
– l’Hawaîenne: sauce tomate, fromage, jambon, ananas
– la Reine: sauce tomate, fromage, jambon, champignons
– la Margarita: sauce tomate, fromage
– la 4 fromages: 4 fromages!
