Salut,
Last week of « L’été de Comme une Française »!
Today, you’ll explore ways to better understand the French culture.
C’est parti !
Classic Expat mistakes
We all make mistakes and the best is to laugh at them. Here are a few Comme une Française TV videos to spot them:
– 5 French scary things for foreigners
– How to scare the hell out of a French person
– 5 (very) embarrassing mistakes in French
– French swearing: 10 words to avoid
– Saying « bonjour » twice: don’t make this expat mistake
– French swearing: 10 words to avoid
French food
Food is at the heart of French culture. Not only cooking but also eating together. French people never eat on their own when they can have a meal together.
– How to thank your host at the end of a meal
– When to eat in France: sacred mealtimes
Other resources on French culture
– Des Racines et des Ailes is a wonderful TV program on the French Heritage. You’ll discover beautiful sites (Versaille, Provence, Périgord…).
– 2000 ans d’Histoire is a radio program on France Inter. It’s one of the most famous, interesting and addictice. Good if you have an advanced level.
– C’est pas Sorcier is a very popular TV show for children: it covers art, science, history, cultures… And as it’s (supposed to be) for the little ones, it very well explained.
– D’Art d’art is a French short program on art.
– Here are all France Inter’s programs on History
– Chante France broadcasts only French songs and not just Edith Piaf. ????

Bonjour Géraldine
Merci pour les liens!
About Des Racines et des Ailes: last september my wife and I stayed at Nuits St Georges in Bourgogne for a few days, and we went to Beaune to see the MUSÉE DE L’HÔTEL-DIEU DE BEAUNE, only to find it closed because Des racines et des Ailes was there making TV. After a few days in Orange, we went to Aix for a week, and one evening we saw Des Racines et des Ailes about Bourgogne on the TV, and also the bit about MUSÉE DE L’HÔTEL-DIEU DE BEAUNE. Brilliant!
Glad you liked it Peter. It’s a great show. 🙂
